From the ancient times it is a practice in India bathing in rivers by Indian people. Particularly on festivals and other ocassions like Pushkarams, Kumbh Mela etc. many people across the India bathing in the Sacred Rivers.

Shree Yamunaji (River Goddess Yamuna) vintage post card

This is Shree Yamunaji (River Goddess Yamuna) vintage post card in my collection.

Yamuna river is also one of the sacred river to Hindus. It will be in the middle of Holy Trinity rivers(Ganga,Yamuna & Saraswati rivers) for Hindu people. In the Triveni Sangamam area in Allahabad all these 3 rivers appeared together and this place will be very sacred for Hindus and sacred Kumbh Mela event happened in this location.
